Released : Redsn0w 0.9.9b6 Fixes Location Services on iPhone 3GS w/06.15.x iPad Baseband

The iPhone DevTeam have just released an update to their infamous Jailbreak tool redsn0w v0.9.9b6 to fix Location Services on iPhone 3GS Running iOS5 with iPad Baseband 06.15.x !

Here’s what was posted on DevTeam Blog :

Update #14: We’ve released version 0.9.9b6 of redsn0w, with both a functional fix and cosmetic fix for iOS5 jailbreakers. For iPhone3GS owners with the 06.15 baseband, this redsn0w eliminates the network crash you saw when using Location Services in iOS5 (in fact, you don’t even need to disable Location Services anymore during the initial setup). The cosmetic fix is to the visual countdown you see when going into DFU mode.

It’s okay to re-run this redsn0w over an existing device jailbroken at iOS5. Just choose “Jailbreak” again and de-select Cydia (in other words, all the checkboxes will be unchecked). If you are lucky enough to have an old-bootrom iPhone3GS, please pre-select the IPSW first (redsn0w can’t yet auto-detect the FW version of your old-bootrom 3GS if it’s already been jailbroken).

Cydia was not even installed on my 3Gs
there’s only an empty square
I tried it on iOS 5 with and old bootrom

You might need to boot in tethered state !

yeah you have to reopen redsn0w, connect the iphone and go into DFU again. IOS 5 Jailbreak is a tethered one – it means every time you REBOOT your iphone then you have to rejailbreak.

The 1st jailbreak did this – can’t wait to see if my GPS is back.

HEY!! i’m using a iPhone 4… unfortunatly it got updated on iOS5 by iTunes, and now I cant use it… i jailbroked it, cydia is working fine and redsn0w is installed, but i cant seem to make my carrier work… and the worst part is that the gevey’s sim-cards that im using arn’t working any more (the first gevey that came out and gevey ultra)… is there a solution?? PLEASE!! HELP MEEE!!!

Well if you updated with stock then you are. Out of luck as Ultrasn0w only works on iOS4.x firmware n baseband ! So your Baseband now updated to latest no Gevey Sim will work ! Sorry but you should have been more careful. :/

nooooo really? and there is no way to downgrade it or something? not even in the near future? i had used the tinyumbrella a couple of weeks ago…

Dude you can downgrade but u will only be dowgrading the iOS Baseband once updated is un-downgradable sorry !

Get a new phone preferably factory unlocked :/

Guys, i have a 3GS 4.1 iOS Jailbroken and Unlocked. My 3GS has the old BootRom. I would like to jump to the iOS 5. How do i Jailbreak/Unlock it? I’m outside the US and have no access to an AT&T SIM.

According to the instructions, at the end it says “if you have a 3GS with old BootRom, pre-select the IPSW first”. Where do i select the one i need??

In redsn0w’s extras hit the select iPSW button n select iOS5 iPSW … But wait if you are not Factory Unlocked I would recommend you build a custom iPSW to keep Baseband from updating because there ain’t an Unlock for iOS5 yet or … EVER !!!
