Finally, iPhone DevTeam has just released newer version of redSn0w with update version of 0.9.9 beta 8. This v0.9.9b8 supports iOS5.0.1 beta1/2 jailbreak. Previously, Apple has just seeded iOS 5.0.1 beta2 .IPSW and it’s confirmed that RedSn0w 0.9.9b7 is able to do the jailbreak by pointing it to iOS5.0 ipsw. With his beta 8 of Redsnow 0.9.9, the iOS 5.0 is not required any more.

One thing is still missing within this software update that Redsn0w 0.9.9b8 still can not jailbreak iPhone 4S and iPad 2. So iPhone 4S users need to wait for newer version of this popular jailbreak tool because its speed.

- How To Jailbreak iOS 5.0.1?

Well generally the steps is still the same but here’s we try to outline it again as short as possible:

Step 1 – Download iOS 5.0.1 (beta1/2) .IPSW File corresponding with your iDevice

Step 2 – Download iTunes 10.5.1 beta 2 for Windows and Mac OSX

Step 3 – Download RedSn0w for Mac and Windows (link below this post) then extract its content

Step 4 – Connect your iPhone/iPod Touch iOS 5.0.1 beta1/2 to computer

Step 5 – Now launch RedSn0w up >> click on [Extras] >> then click [Select IPSW] >> locate the iOS 5.0.1 .ipsw file >> then hit the [Jailbreak]. Just don’t forget to install Cydia.

Step 6 – Put your iPhone into DFU Mode by following on-screen instruction.

Step 7 – Now RedSn0w should start jailbreaking your iPhone. Sit tight, wait and pray.

Step 8 – Once done, your iPhone should reboot. Simply boot into tethered mode by clicking [Extras] then [Just Boot] button.

Now your iPhone iOS 5.0.1 beta1/2 should be jailbroken already. Do not forget to install a cydia tweak “semi-tethered” to jailbreak your iPhone on semi-untethered mode.
